Thisis astunning walk round some of the most beautiful parts of the coastal path.
We did this in glorious weather in early October. You can catch a small Ferry by the Ferry Boat In across to East Portlemouth.. Really lovely , the path heads west around the headland. If you are lucky enough to be at low tide you can walk along the beach. To the west you can see North Sands on the other side of theEstuary. On the edge you can see Fort Charles .. the last outpost of royalism in the west. It was destroyed by parliament .
You can get wonderful views as you round the headland and then head East towards Gammon Head and Prawle point. between the tow is a beautiful beach that can be reached by asmall path.
From Prawle Point you are on a raised beach all the way to Linnacombe before ascending the hill to the Start.
Here thecoast suddenyl heads amost due north. You cansee the great bay that continues on around asfar as the Dart river and beyond. Down below you to the left is the ruined village of Hallsands taken by astorm in 1917 then you walk on through to Beesands . Here if you require asmall pub on the shore. ( The Cricket Arms) ... then on to Torcross
