Offas Dyke In a November Storm

Here are pictures of a great weekend for Charles Forsyth and myself. We had Friday to Sunday. We stayed at a delightful B&B near Monmouth. This was a glorious old Cider farm that had been converted by Treona and her husband over 15 years.

We were made very welcome ... when we arrived in a heavy storm late at night with the rain lashing and the winds blowing it felt like a scene from Wuthering Heights , but the welcome was warm and in th morning we woke up VERY briefly to bright sun. It was glorious.

We then set off and took a taxi from Monmouth to Chepstow .. and walked the 18 miles back. Great fun ... the last 2-3 hours being in pitch black.

We also had a lovely short Offas Dyke walk to the White Castle on the Sunday.

Whilst Molly Bell went off to Nice the rest went to Greece. Rob Sarah and I had a great time. Lots of games. Rob learned 5 Card Brag. We discovered Ayios Petros above Astros , and then one day going off to the beach we came across this!! This was our only route from the house into the village. Luckily Doris warned us just in time and we managed to persuade the workers to replace the road enough to let us out!!!

Here are shots of the trip. We had an incredible journey back to Athens in a four hour thunder storm!!!

Well in the end part of September Preston and I started our journey from Ivybridge to the north Coast at Lynmouth.

Here are the photos

We were blessed with glorious sunshine and we have all the time in the world now. By the time we do our second journey only one of us will still be working !!!
