What can I say about a walk in the South Hams with Preston other than there is little else which is more fun. Starting by parking the car by the beautiflu little church in Kingston ... walking past the Dolphin ( excellent pub) and then heading south east through valleys and farms until you come to a charming ruined old mill. Here you can get in the wind a small flavour of old Devon life. Then up to Ringmore to the Jouneys End for a pint. Great pub and admirable landlady. Then down a wide valley to the sea. Here a wonderful view east to Burgh Island but we head west to the Erme estuary. Here suddenly the view spreads up the estuary to the old Mildmay White estates. Then its just a couple of miles back up the estuary to the waiting delights of the Dolphin.

The whole partnership go off to Saunton Sands for a pow wow. One or two ups and downs but by and large an optimistic event.

Greece in the autumn

Sarah Robbie and I left Molly to partying and work and headed south for a great week in the Pelopenesse. Greece is in so much trouble , but its been around a very long time. My gut instinct is that it needs to come out of the euro and tke the pain , because one way or another the pain is coming.
We discovered an ancient Mycenean Port City of Athini near Astros and I found a wonderful walk up over the mountains from Prastos. We ended up in the beautiful Chestnut Forests above Kastanitsa.
Highlight of the holiday. At Jaques and Lynas watching the world cup final by skyping Lyna's sister in Canberra and getting her to turn her laptop so we could see the final 8000 miles away on a remote television!!!
