After a week of hammering the old girl finally gave up. There is scarcely a wall standing. It s so sad to see it all gone ... but now that it is down at least there is space sometime in the future to build again.
Lets hope that good can indeed grow from the ashes.

Lovely spring with john and Debo Fewster. Drove to the Wonson at THrowleigh then after a lunch and a few "Jails" we walked home through the lanes. Perfect ... followed by the Opera at Exeter .. Eugene Onegin ... a fairly heavy piece .. but well worth seeing

A really sad time for me. To wander around this old hospital, a place where patents of mine had been born, many cured , helped, aided through difficult. some had died here, but at least surrounded by friends and family. As this little old hospital goes down around me, I feel the death of what was created when my father started in medicine. Increasingly a business, increasingly less connection between those being treated and those receiving what is now called 'care'

I can hardly believe it but techniquely I retire in 2 weeks ....lots of exciting things happening ... but it really does feel like the time to smell the flowers, sip my tea and pontificate in an infuriating way has arrived ... can't wait!

Just to get us in the mood Rob and I went out on the Granite way .. from Okehampton Station to the old quarry and viaduct ... then the weekend was devoted to the demolition of Les Bleus!!!
Rob is becoming a train set fanatic .. I can hardly believe it but the age of Hornby Doublo is about to arrive at Ramsley!!!

What with the Haygarths having moved up to the grim grim North and the Bols moving to Outer Mongolia ... and the Chadwicks being deserted by their children ... we went for our last and ? 9th February Family bash. It was one of the best. We celebrated Rolands 50th Birthday .... and all had fun. A great last gasp!!!
